چکیده

In the present investigation, a mathematical model is developed to study the flow of blood in a multiple stenosed artery employing velocity slip condition under the externally applied transverse magnetic field. Blood is modeled as Herschel-Bulkley fluid to represent the non-Newtonian character of blood in small blood vessels. The expressions for wall shear stress, volumetric flow rate, axial velocity, and core velocity have been derived analytically and graphically. These expressions reveal considerable alterations in flow characteristics due to slip velocity and stenosis. The magnetic field perpendicular to the flow of blood is incorporated which significantly controls the flow patterns. The study provides an insight into the effects of magnetic field and slip velocity on flow rate of blood, wall shear stress, axial and core velocities of blood. Keywords— MHD flow, slip velocity, multiple stenoses, volumetric flow rate, wall shear stress

MHD Flow of Blood through Radially Non-symmetric Stenosed Artery: a Hershcel-Bulkley Model (RESEARCH NOTE)

The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical model for studying the magnetic field effect on blood flow through an axially non-symmetric but radially symmetric atherosclerotic artery. Herschel-Bulkley equation has been taken to represent the non-Newtonian character of blood. The response of magnetic field, stenosis height, shape parameter on velocity, volumetric flow rate in stenotic ...

Oscillatory MHD Flow of Blood through an Artery with Mild Stenosis (RESEARCH NOTE)

The purpose of this work is to study the effect of oscillatory MHD blood flow in stenosed artery. The analytical and numerical results are obtained for oscillatory MHD blood flow, which is assumed to be a Newtonian fluid. It was also assumed that the surface roughness is of cosine shaped and the maximum height of roughness is negligible, compared with the radius of un-constricted tube. The flui...

A Numerical Analysis for the Effect of Slip Velocity and Stenosis Shape on Non-Newtonian Flow of Blood (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The aim of this paper is to study the effect of slip velocity and shape of stenosis on non-Newtonian flow of blood through a stenosed arterial segment. Blood is modeled as Bingham-Plastic fluid in a uniform circular tube with a radially non-symmetric stenosis. The problem is investigated by a joint effort of analytical and numerical techniques. The influence of stenosis shape parameter, slip ve...

Slip velocity effect on MHD oscillatory blood flow through stenosed artery

A mathematical model is developed to study the MHD oscillatory blood flow through stenosed artery under the effect of slip velocity. The blood is assumed to be Newtonian. Analytical expressions for velocity profile, flow rate, wall shear stress and resistive impedance have been obtained. These expressions are computed numerically and the computational results are presented graphically. It is no...
